4.6.6 Payroll Payments and Payday

A. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to explain the basic pay requirements for all employees for The University of Texas at Tyler including the Health Science Center at Tyler (“University”).

All employees of the University.

D. Policy

  1. Payday
    1. For employees designated to be paid once a month on the monthly payroll, the University may not pay the salary of an employee before the first working day of the month following the payroll period.
    2. For employees designated to be paid on the biweekly or semi-monthly payroll, the University shall pay an employee every two weeks or twice per month as scheduled by the employing entity.
    3. "Working day" means a day other than Saturday, Sunday, or a University holiday as scheduled by the employing entity.  A day does not cease to be a University holiday because the University maintains or is required to maintain a minimum working staff on the holiday.

  2. Entitlement to Payment for Accrued Vacation Time
    1. When an employee separates from University employment and does not transfer to another Texas state agency to a position that also accrues vacation hours without a break in service, he or she is entitled to be paid for an accrued vacation hour balance.
    2. When an employee transfers within the University from a position that accrues vacation hours to a position that will not accrue vacation hours, he or she will be paid an accrued vacation hour balance.
