2.10.2 University Police Department
A. Purpose
The objective of this policy is to outline the general responsibilities of the University Police Department (UPD). Specific departmental operations will be addressed in each campus police department’s policies and procedures.
B. Persons Affected
All University of Texas at Tyler Police Department and University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler Police Department employees (collectively, UPD, for the sake of this policy).

D. Policy
UPD will be responsible for law enforcement operations, security, and emergency response, and certain compliance efforts for the University. In order to support this effort and to ensure a safe environment for the entire campus community, UPD is staffed 24/7 with officers, guards, and telecommunication personnel. Administrative staff operate during regular business hours (Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00), with the exception of the administrative staff of the Health Science Center campus who operate Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
The University of Texas at Tyler Police Department is located at 3410 Varsity Drive, Tyler, TX 75701. The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler Police Department is located at 11937 US-271, Tyler, TX 75708 in building 717. A metal building located southwest of the main building on Camp Fannin Avenue.
