1.1.0 Authority of Institutional Documents

A. Purpose

It is the purpose of this policy to identify sources for University policies and procedures.

B. Persons Affected

All faculty, staff, and students of The University of Texas at Tyler.

C. Definitions

D. Policies

  1. The University of Texas at Tyler is governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System and by this Handbook of Operating Procedures.
  2. The University of Texas System also has published UT System Policies, and UT System Ethics Policies and Guidelines that apply to the University.
  3. The current edition of The University of Texas at Tyler Catalog is an official publication of the University approved by the UT System. Various sections of the Catalog, including schedule of course offerings, may be issued separately, and new editions are issued as appropriate.
  4. Upon approval of the President, other policy or procedural manuals, directives and bulletins which announce, describe, interpret or explain University policy and administrative procedures will be issued for guidance of officers, faculty, staff, and students in the conduct of University business. 

    Such publications shall be consistent with the Regents’ Rules and Regulations and this Handbook of Operating Procedures and shall not amend or modify the official Regents’ Rules and Regulations of UT System or this Handbook of Operating Procedures of the University of Texas at Tyler. 

    These publications may include, but are not limited to the following:
    1. Affirmative Action Plan
    2. Program Guidelines and Institutional Policy for Student Financial Aid
    3. Manual of Policies and Procedures for Student Affairs

E. Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of all faculty, staff, and students of The University of Texas at Tyler to be aware of and abide by the applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents and in these documents.

G. Review

The Divisional Head for this policy is the President. This policy shall be reviewed every five years or as necessary by the Provost.
