READ 5333 Foundations of Reading Instruction

Students enrolled in this course will be given opportunities to learn the following topics as well as the research supporting each topic: phonological awareness; phonemic awareness: letter identification, phonics; sight words; fluency; vocabulary; comprehension; reading, and writing. Students will be given opportunities to practice teaching each of the topics, as well. The Science of Teaching Reading and research proven literacy theories are key components of this course.
