COUN 5392 Helping Relationships and Clinical Interviewing

This is a clinical skills course emphasizing the acquisition of therapeutic helping relationship skills and interviewing through role playing and modeling. Video and audio feedback as well as direct supervision is provided.

Prerequisite

Grade of "B" or better in COUN 5312, COUN 5328 and COUN 5391. The prerequisite courses listed are the foundational courses that students take in their first semester of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. These courses are prerequisites for most of the courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. Additionally, it is important for students to have a strong foundation in counseling ethics, skills, and theories to understand mental health diagnosis and treatment planning and how these elements impact clinical work.
