COUN 5313 Family Therapy

Instruction in theoretical approaches and interventions in family therapy, grounded in human systems theory. Includes the process of conducting family therapy and special aspects of family therapy.

Prerequisite

Grade of "B" or better in COUN 5312, COUN 5328, and COUN 5391. The prerequisite courses listed are the foundational courses that students take in their first semester of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. These courses are prerequisites for most of the courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. Additionally, it is important for students to have a strong foundation in counseling ethics, skills, and theories to understand mental health diagnosis and treatment planning and how these elements impact clinical work.
