Accounting
Two tracks, the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Track and the Enterprise Accounting Track are available to students who wish to study accounting at the University. Both tracks lead to the Bachelor of Business Administration degree, which is designed to provide students with the educational breadth of general education courses and a strong foundation in the common business core. However, the career outcomes for each track are different.
The CPA Track is a four-year major in accounting that prepares students to seek CPA certification . This track provides an opportunity to for students to enroll in the five-year integrated Master of Science in Professional Accountancy (MSPA), which simultaneously awards both the BBA and the MSPA degrees. In combination, the BBA CPA Track and MSPA prepare students for a successful career as a CPA.
The Enterprise Accounting track BBA is designed to provide students with the educational breadth of general education courses, a strong foundation in the common business core, and sufficient accounting education to achieve entry-level competencies for a career in industry. This track incorporates multiple directed-elective options that enable students to fine tune their course-work for specific industries while still providing a strong foundation that is valued across industries. In this track, students may be eligible to become Certified Internal Auditors or Certified Management Accountants.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting, the student must:
- earn a grade of "C" or better in all courses used to meet degree requirements.
- earn a grade of "C" or better in any course that is a prerequisite for subsequent courses in the curriculum prior to taking a course that requires the prerequisite,
- complete the general baccalaureate degree requirements of the University,
- complete the Accounting Major curriculum requirements specified in the following sections.
