MSEL 5330 Systems Engineering and Process Control

MSEL 5330 – Systems Engineering and Process Control is a course that integrates systems engineering principles with process control fundamentals to prepare students for leadership in complex technical environments. The course emphasizes systems thinking, modeling and analysis of engineering systems, process improvement techniques, and control systems fundamentals. Students will learn how to view engineering challenges holistically and apply feedback control and continuous improvement methods to achieve reliable system performance. Key topics include the systems engineering life cycle (from requirements analysis through design, implementation, and maintenance) and the use of control methodologies to regulate and improve processes. By blending technical engineering skills with a leadership perspective, this course equips students to make informed decisions and lead process improvements in modern interdisciplinary projects. Upon completion, students will have advanced technical knowledge and be better prepared for professional practice in engineering leadership roles.
